Lacquer Phoenix Vessel

Warring States

A lacquer painted wooden based vessel comprised of a phoenix form bird standing on its two front legs with its tail feathers spread out in the rear. Its head held erect, beak open and holding a ball. The body between two cylindrical vessels supported by smaller phoenix bird legs. Overal a similar example excavated from the tomb of the Marquis Yi Of Zeng in Suixian County in the summer of 1978, called a Phoenix connecting cup.
